The eight essential competencies are non-negotiable skills that every church must possess to achieve meaningful growth. Without these abilities, sustainable development becomes unattainable. Over the course of our six-week Observable Results Program, we will emphasize tangible evidence, ensuring that each participant demonstrates mastery of these competencies.

Competence #1

Running Successful On-site Outreach Programs

The most significant growth factor for any church lies in its ability to effectively reach out and engage with new people within the local community. One of the most impactful ways to achieve this is through well-organized, on-site outreach programs designed to connect with first-time visitors and foster meaningful relationships.

This observable results program introduces participants to the essential elements of running successful on-premise outreach initiatives. A hallmark of successful Visitor Services is the emphasis on personal witnessing by church members. Members play a vital role in extending personalized invitations to family, friends, and others within the community, inviting them to experience the church in a warm, welcoming environment. In the third week of the program we expect all participating churches to run a successful on-premise outreach program.

Competence #2

Running Successful Off-site Outreach Programs

For a church focused on growth, it is essential to master both on-premise and off-premise outreach strategies. While on-site programs serve to welcome and nurture new visitors within the church, off-premise outreach is crucial for expanding the church’s reach into the broader community. By meeting people where they are, the church can extend its impact and foster meaningful connections with those who may never come to their church.

This observable results program will guide participants in developing and executing effective off-site outreach initiatives, requiring them to provide evidence that they have a well-structured process in place for organizing public evangelism events. In the fifth week, all participating churches are expected to run a successful off-premise outreach event. This hands-on experience will allow churches to test their outreach strategies in real-world settings, gathering insights into what works and what needs improvement.

Competence #3

Establishing a Coordinated Hospitality Team

A well-coordinated hospitality team is one of the most critical factors in creating a welcoming environment for newcomers to your church. First impressions matter, and the hospitality team often plays a pivotal role in shaping how first-time visitors perceive the church. A seamless and unified approach ensures that new attendees feel valued, comfortable, and open to engaging with the church community. In contrast, a disjointed or uncoordinated team can lead to confusion, making visitors feel unwelcome or overlooked—negatively impacting future follow-up and engagement efforts.

In the first and second weeks participants will be required to demonstrate observable evidence of their hospitality team's coordination through video role plays. This practical exercise will allow them to showcase their readiness to engage with new visitors and to refine their techniques based on feedback.
